Grandfather Giovanni and Grandmother Teresa have signed Santa Maria’s history. Here, as a fact, they were sharecroppers, but the land wasn’t enough to carry on the family and the six children, so Grandfather Giovanni went hunting as an illegal poacher in the big woods, while Grandmother Teresa looked after the kids and did all the domestic works. Beside the difficult life she found spare time for growing her favourite flowers: the Iris, which became then Santa Maria’s symbol.
Nowadays Santa Maria is part of a big farm of 320 acres including cultivate land, woods, vine yards and olive fields. Since already four generations the family Fantacci welcome their guests with open-heartedness and real enthusiasm for this land…in particular way Elena, the young owner, wish to tell you the wonderful simple ness of this place.
The Restaurant offers Maremma and Tuscan Cuisine, with particular attention to raw materials, which are entirely found in the area or self-produced, such as Extra virgin olive Oil and vegetables. The bread, the pasta and the desserts are homemade.
